Two independent pharmacies in the centre of Malpas
Malpas Pharmacy and Malpas Brook Pharmacy have served Newport families for years, offering NHS prescriptions across both sites alongside a growing list of private services at 361 The Clinic at Malpas Pharmacy, all delivered by a team you will recognise.
Our story
Small things, done properly
We try to get the everyday stuff right. Your prescription is ready when we say it will be. If you have a question about a new tablet, one of us will stop and explain it. And you can see a clinician here on your own street instead of travelling across Newport.
Because we are independent, we can do what makes sense for the person standing in front of us. If a medicine is not agreeing with you, we ring the surgery. If a service is not right for you, we will tell you and point you to someone who can help.
Most of what we offer started as a request from a patient: flu jabs, medicine reviews, ear care, weight management, aesthetics. Each one is done by a trained clinician in a private room, with the same care we put into dispensing.

Geoff Thomas
Owner, Managing Director and Superintendent Pharmacist
Graduating from UWIST, Cardiff in 1985, Geoff has over 35 years experience as a community pharmacist and contractor. He began with Boots the Chemist, oversaw the opening of their flagship Cardiff Bay store, then became director of a small chain of independents before taking ownership of Malpas Pharmacy in 2003.
Lorraine Thomas
Co-owner
Lorraine has over 30 years experience in the beauty and pharmaceutical industry, including as a medicines representative for AstraZeneca with a special interest in gastrointestinal and cardiovascular medicine. She oversees HR and the creative direction of 361 The Clinic at Malpas Pharmacy.
Kate Ragu
Independent Prescribing Pharmacist
Kate has been with Malpas Pharmacy for four years. She is an independent prescriber with a particular interest in ear, nose and throat conditions, and is passionate about the dispensary running efficiently while keeping every patient interaction personal.
Clara McCool
Independent Prescriber and Aesthetic Pharmacist
Clara has held roles in retail management, learning and development and as a university lecturer. She leads our acute prescribing clinic and is responsible for all private aesthetic and wellness services at Malpas Pharmacy.
Danielle
Independent Prescribing Pharmacist, Malpas Pharmacy
Danielle joined Malpas Pharmacy after 23 years in a multiple pharmacy. She is a newly qualified independent prescriber who values being part of an integrated team where pharmacists can share ideas and support one another.
Ana Ferreria De Almeida
Pharmacy Manager and Independent Prescribing Pharmacist, Malpas Brook Pharmacy
Ana leads the team at Malpas Brook, where she manages day-to-day operations alongside an independent prescribing clinic. She has over 20 years of pharmacy management experience in the UK and Portugal, and is active in community health education.
Sophie Taylor-Small
ACT and Supervisor, Malpas Brook Pharmacy
Sophie has spent 13 years with the Malpas group, starting at Malpas Pharmacy before moving to Malpas Brook. She is an accredited checking technician, supervisor and micro-suction specialist who loves being part of a growing community health service.
Jen Edwards and Vicky Charles
Otoscopy and Micro-suction Specialists
Jen and Vicky run ear care appointments at Malpas Pharmacy. Vicky is also a technician and GPhC accredited checking technician.
Emma Jones
ACT Technician and Dispensary Team Lead, Malpas Pharmacy
Emma is an accuracy checking technician and one of the dispensary team leads at Malpas Pharmacy. She has helped build the dispensary into a patient-focused, supportive space where no one feels rushed.
Stephanie Francis
Lead Pharmacy Technician, Nursing Homes Department
Stephanie leads dispensing for the nursing and residential homes we serve, and is a GPhC accredited checking technician.
Louisa Passfield
Lead Pharmacy Technician, MDS Department
Louisa leads our monitored dosage system department for community dossett box patients, and is a GPhC accredited checking technician.
Phil Tiso
Lead Driver and Team Leader
Phil has co-ordinated the delivery team across both Malpas and Malpas Brook pharmacies for seven years, making sure vulnerable patients get their medication on time.

Geoff Thomas owns Malpas Pharmacy and holds responsibility as Superintendent Pharmacist for every clinical standard we work to, from dispensing accuracy to the way our private services at 361 The Clinic at Malpas Pharmacy are run.
At the heart of everything is one simple value: a genuine passion for caring about patients and delivering the best possible service. It’s shared and embedded within the team every day.
