Vitamin B12 supports red blood cell production, nerve health and energy metabolism. Low levels are common in people following plant based diets, in some older adults, in those taking certain long term medicines and in people with absorption problems. Symptoms can be vague: tiredness, pins and needles, low mood or difficulty concentrating.

Before any injection is given, the pharmacist carries out a suitability check covering your symptoms, diet, medication and any previous B12 testing. If your history suggests an underlying cause that needs investigating, we will tell you honestly and direct you to your GP rather than simply giving an injection.

Where the service is appropriate, the injection is given into the upper arm in our private consultation room and takes only a few minutes. You will be asked to wait briefly afterwards, and the pharmacist will explain how often you may benefit from repeating it.
